It's Mardis Gras Time!
Are you planning a Mardis Gras party? Mardis Gras is actually only one day though many people refer to the entire carnival season as Mardis Gras. Mardis Gras or Fat Tuesday falls on Tuesday, February 12th this year. It is a different day every year, like Easter. The Carnival season lasts from Epiphany, which was January 6th until the day before Ash Wednesday so it gives you plenty of time to celebrate Carnival! The dates are determined by the vernal equinox.
If you're looking for an excuse to plan a party and let loose a little bit, then here's a great one!
Start with an invitation like this one featuring the purple, gold and green colors of Mardis Gras and a typical symbol - the Fleur de Lis. Sophisticated Stationery carries this invitation along with others.

And don't forget to order or bake your own king cake. You can find a great recipe for a Quick Brioche Mardi Gras King Cake from Barbar Bakes.
